East Middlebury Historical Walking Tour

10:30 at the Sarah Partridge Library/Community House,
431 E. Main Street in E. Middlebury

Learn about the rich history of buildings you pass by on East Main Street and nearby.  We will start with an introduction at the Sarah Partridge Library/Community House, at 432 E. Main Street, E. Middlebury.   At 10:30, Bruce Yelton and Peggy Peabody will provide an introduction to the area and the walking tour options.  At about 11:00, you can choose to stay at the center, head east toward the Gorge past the Waybury for a short distance to gain knowledge of what initially occurred in that area with many of the houses still standing, or choose to head west towards the local church. Many of the historic sites on this tour are close together, so even those with mobility concerns can take part (and we will have people to assist).  Return to the Community House for lunch, being arranged with Otter East Bakery and Deli.  For further information, you might wish to consult an informative booklet from East Middlebury Historical Society which shares the history of each building on the tour.  We will have booklets available at the tour.  In the meantime you can access some of the same information at this website: East Middlebury Historical Walking Tour

Lunch:  Sarah Partridge Library/Community House, provided by Otter East;
                Business Meeting will also be held at the luncheon

Chairs:  Susanne Slayton & Marilyn Needham
